EXPLORE THIS SUBTROPICAL HAVEN HIDDEN IN THE SOUTH OF IRELAND
Kells Bay House and Gardens are one of Ireland’s most spectacular hidden gems you’ll visit during your trip. Located along the Ring of Kerry on the southern coast, the location is known locally as the ‘Jewel of the Ring’. Not only are the gardens a charm to explore but they offer fantastic views over Dingle Bay.
The gardens extend over 17 hectares of terrain for you to explore with over 3 kilometres of walking paths. Along the way, you’ll see one of the finest collections of southern hemisphere plants in Europe.
The different gardens include the Ladies Walled Garden, the Bamboo Glade and the Primeval Forest. The forest is a highlight of the visit, with its extensive tree ferns, many of which were imported from Australia and planted in the mid-1800s.
On the estate, you can go on a few different walks. The River Walk follows the stream, the Cliff Walk will offer you some lovely viewpoints and the Bog Walk will take you over the top of the waterfall. Here, you'll also find Ireland’s longest rope bridge, an activity that kids will be sure to enjoy.
The Kells Bay Gardens are open daily for a small fee.
