A NORTHERN IRISH COASTAL HAVEN
Owned and managed by the National Trust, Murlough is one of Northern Ireland’s National Nature Reserves. Murlough is set along a fragile sand dune ecosystem that dates back 6,000 years old.
Nestled between the Mourne Mountains and Dundrum Bay, the nature reserve’s location offers sweeping views of the surroundings.
Murlough also has one of the best examples of dune heath in the country and one of the finest beaches in County Down. By exploring the diverse landscape of the nature reserve, you’ll immerse yourself in a special ecosystem.
Wildlife watchers take note: a variety of birdlife nests here as well as 22 species of butterflies. You may even be able to spot seals in the water.
With miles of beaches and dunes here, it’s an ideal day out for nature lovers. You can go on a self-guided nature walk, along the woodlands, beaches and boardwalks. Guided walks are also offered from time to time by the park.
