COME SEE THE MOST FAMOUS CLIFFS IN IRELAND
The iconic Cliffs of Moher are famous throughout the world as one of the most beautiful attractions in Ireland. Many visitors make the trip to the west coast just to witness the incredible landscape.
Set eyes on these cliffs and it will be no surprise why they prove so popular. They have stood proudly for over 350 million years, representing geological history as well as outstanding natural beauty.
You’ll find the cliffs in County Clare. They extend for 8 kilometres (5 miles) and stand at 214 metres tall (702 feet) at their highest point. Prepare yourself for their breathtaking vastness, and the stirring soundtrack of the Atlantic Ocean’s roar from below.
You can learn more about the cliffs at the eco-friendly visitor centre. Nestled in the hillside, the building is designed to have a minimal visual impact on the scenic landscape.
You may want to bring some binoculars to do some birdwatching. The cliffs are named as a Special Protected Area (SPA) for seabirds with over 20 species found here. Keep your eyes peeled for guillemots, razorbills, peregrine falcons and more.
Nearby to the east, you’ll find the Burren National Park, about 45 minutes away by car. In the opposite direction, the Aran Islands are a short ferry trip across the Atlantic waters.
Visiting the cliffs is technically free, but there is a fee for car parking and for access to the visitor centre.
