IMMERSE YOURSELF IN HISTORY AT THIS ICONIC MEDIEVAL SITE

You’ll find the iconic Rock of Cashel (or Carraig Phádraig) in County Tipperary, toward the south of Ireland. Also known as St Patrick’s Rock, or the Cashel of the Kings, this used to be an important ancient royal site. It is a large site, steeped in mystery and legends.

National legend says that it was here that Aenghus, King of Munster, was converted by St Patrick in the 5th century. There are also stories that the Rock of Cashel used to be the seat of power of the High Kings of Munster.

Visitors who come to the Rock of Cashel can walk up and admire the view over the spectacular group of medieval buildings that sit atop a rocky outcrop of limestone. As well as these 12th- and 13th-century buildings, the site includes a round tower, a chapel, a Gothic cathedral, and a 15th-century castle.

There is much to visit and discover!

The Rock of Cashel is open all year round, with guided tours available several times a day. An entrance fee required. You can also visit the Cormacs Chapel for an extra fee, but these tickets are given on a first-come first-served basis.
