DISCOVER A JEWEL OF THE WEST OF IRELAND
Westport is a beautiful town on the west coast of Ireland. Often called one of the prettiest places in Ireland, the town is colourful and filled with cultural activities.
Nearby, the coastline is among the most scenic in Europe, with the Clew Bay islands as standout attractions. The waters are home to much sea life, including basking sharks and humpback whales, and an abundance of fish. The area has become a popular sea fishing spot as a result.
As you walk through the Georgian town centre, you can admire its vibrant mural by renowned artist Maser.
The banks of the Carrowbeg River, which crosses the town, are known locally as the North and South Mall. On a sunny day, or warm evening, you can walk along the Mall admiring the trees, bridges and resident ducks.
There are plenty of pubs in town if you would rather nestle in during a rainy day, or listen to Irish traditional music at night.
In the area, you can also visit Westport House, a grand manor where you can learn about 300 years of Irish history.
