Connemara Smokehouse is a family-run business that has become an institution since its opening in 1979. As the oldest smokehouse in Connemara, and one of the oldest in Western Ireland, it makes for a fascinating visit.
The smokehouse uses fresh fish – caught on the Irish west coast – natural ingredients and traditional smoking techniques. Expect wild and organic seafood that serves up a true taste of the Atlantic.
This business is also Ireland’s first Food Économusée, part of a European project based on Canadian concepts. An Économusée showcases local crafts and traditions, providing jobs and training opportunities for future generations.
