You can now visit Ireland without needing to quarantine or take travel-related PCR tests upon arrival if you are fully vaccinated, or if you have valid proof that you have recovered from Covid-19 in the past 180 days.

For visitors originating from within the EU/EEA, Ireland will operate the EU Digital COVID Certificate (DCC). The DCC will show if a passenger has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, recovered from the virus, or received a negative test result.

If you don’t have a DCC or your DCC is based on a non-PCR test, you will be required to provide proof of a negative RT-PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. Children aged 7–18 who aren’t vaccinated must also have a negative PCR test.

For visitors originating from outside the EU/EEA, you will be able to visit Ireland if you have valid proof of full vaccination against Covid-19. You will not be required to get tested, nor to quarantine upon arrival in Ireland.

Or, if you have valid proof of recovery from Covid-19 in the past 180 days, you can enter Ireland without needing to get tested or to quarantine upon arrival in Ireland.

Travellers from the USA, for example, are allowed to enter Ireland without undergoing Covid-19 border measures, so long as they have either received their full vaccination or have recovered from Covid-19. The U.S. Embassy in Ireland has specific information regarding travel from the USA to Ireland.

Anyone without a full vaccination certificate or proof of recovery from Covid-19 would need to self-quarantine upon arrival in ireland. They’d need to present evidence of a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival, and undergo post-arrival testing.

In order to qualify as “fully vaccinated”, you must have received one of the vaccines authorised by the European Medical Agency.

Additionally, you should have had your complete dosage to protect you against Covid-19. With some vaccines that may be 2 doses, while others, such as the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine, may be 1 dose.

Your vaccination certificate is valid when 14 days have passed from the second dose (or 14 days from the single Janssen/Johnson & Johnson dose).

There are some health and safety regulations in Ireland that are in place to protect everyone.

The main requirements that you must adhere to are:

  • Frequent hand washing and sanitising.
  • Social distancing.
  • Wearing a face mask.

All visitors are advised to follow local health restrictions in place at the time of visiting. Should you develop symptoms of Covid-19 during your travels, you would be required to take a PCR test.

If you have cancellation insurance with us, your payment is protected. This means that, if you need to cancel because of Covid-19 related reasons, you will never lose the money you’ve paid to us.

Should you test positive for Covid-19 before your trip, you can rebook your tour, on one occasion, without incurring any change fees. Or you can receive a refund of 80% of the total value of your booking, and a 20% travel credit towards a future tour with Nordic Visitor.

Don’t hesitate to contact your Nordic Visitor travel consultant if you feel unwell in the lead up to your trip. They will do everything they can to support you during this time.

Should concerns like new variants arise, Ireland, in line with the EU, would coordinate an “emergency brake” to restrict travel.

Your dedicated travel consultant will inform you of any changes in national guidelines, should they occur.

If tighter restrictions are put in place in Ireland, your consultant will make adjustments to your itinerary, where necessary. They may need to amend the route or make some other changes. You would not be charged any additional fees if rearrangements had to be made.

Should they need to make changes to your itinerary, your personal consultant will do everything to make sure you still have a special travel experience.

Your personal travel consultant will explain all the details of your tour before you book. Afterwards, if any changes must be made to your itinerary due to Covid-19, they will contact you to make you aware of this.

Rest assured you will not make any financial losses if this is the case. You’ll receive appropriate upgrades or alternative tour options to make up for any changes. For example, if an activity that you paid for is no longer available due to Covid-19, you will be given alternative activities to choose from instead.

What our customers say

Discover what our amazing clients, who travelled during the pandemic, thought about their experience with Nordic Visitor.

They covered risks and that was very important for me, going on vacation and being less stressed because of coronavirus. This is what I really appreciate. This tour was very comfortable and the service overall is simply excellent. Overall the trip exceeded our expectations.

- Anastasia, visited Iceland
From start to finish they were flexible about the dates, happy to reorganise locations (due to Covid fears) and our own personal preference. We would definitely consider booking another trip through Nordic again.

- Nathalie, visited Scotland
Nordic Visitor went above and beyond what we could have expected in terms of contact during the holiday, and went to great lengths to tailor-made a specific trip for us. All in all, we would wholeheartedly recommend Iceland as a great destination and Nordic Visitor as a specialist tour company for this part of the world.

- Sarah, visited Iceland
