Find out what time zone Ireland is in and when to expect sunrises and sunsets
The island of Ireland, including both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, is on the GMT/UTC time zone. Like most countries in Europe, Ireland observes Daylight Saving Time (DST), with the clock shifting forward one hour at the end of March and one hour backward at the end of October.
Because of its northerly latitude, Ireland experiences some big differences in seasonal sunrise and sunset hours. At the height of summer, it might not get dark until 10 PM, and in the depths of winter the darkness may set in as early as 4 PM.
Experience a different time zone and discover Ireland by visiting from India, Canada, Australia or the USA.
