Internet Access

What to expect regarding wireless access and mobile coverage in Ireland

Most coffee shops and public houses in Dublin, Belfast and other major towns offer Wi-Fi access to customers, though not always for free. Likewise, many hotels and B&B’s throughout Ireland offer internet access, sometimes at an extra cost.

Many of the larger tourist offices across the country do offer free internet access, and all Dublin city buses offer free Wi-Fi.

Connection on the go

Most Irish or UK telecom providers offer pre-paid plans for mobile broadband access, which can be purchased at many newsagents and convenience shops. Just keep in mind that 3G/4G coverage is poor in the countryside, so you may not be able to connect outside of the larger towns and villages. In this case, just enjoy nature without modern distractions.

You’ll want to stay connected especially if you’re visiting Ireland on a solo adventure
